Gunmen kill Bank Worker In Edo

A staff of a new generation bank, simply identified as Mr Nosa, has been reportedly killed in Benin City, Edo State by suspected cultists.

The incident happened after the close of work last Thursday at Government Reservation Area, GRA, Benin City.

It was gathered that the deceased received a call while in office apparently from a friend who invited him for a hangout in a joint

A source, who spoke on the incident on condition of anonymity, alleged that the deceased, while on his way to the place, was waylaid by the assailants, who immediately opened fire on him.

He said the victim was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident.

“Yes, the Command confirmed it; it is an unfortunate incident. But as I speak, the matter is under investigation,” the Police spokesman said.

He assured that the perpetrators would be brought to book.

Nwabuzor appealed to members of the public to provide useful information that could aid the investigation and unravel the mystery behind the dastardly act.

He said, “We appeal to members of the public to come forward with any useful information that can help us in our investigation. We will ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book.”

The killing of the bank worker has sent shock waves across the state, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The deceased’s colleagues and friends have taken to social media to mourn his death, describing him as a gentle and hardworking person.

One of his colleagues, who pleaded anonymity, described the deceased as “a very nice and friendly person who always had a smile on his face.”

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of workers in the state, especially in the banking sector.

The Edo State Government has yet to react to the incident, but sources close to the government said it was monitoring the situation and would take appropriate action to ensure the safety of workers in the state.
