Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has stated that President Bola Tinubu is not working against the interests of the North. He made this statement while receiving a condolence visit from a Federal Government delegation led by Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, over the death of his mother-in-law in Kano.
Shettima cited the appointment of the two Ministers of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, all from the North, as evidence of the president’s commitment to the region’s growth. He also urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s efforts to make Nigeria great, emphasizing that governance transcends political affiliations.
According to Shettima, the country’s unity and progress are more important than party differences, and he expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government led by Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for their support during his time of bereavement. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to achieve greatness, stating that Nigeria’s greatness is a collective responsibility and should not be affected by political affiliations.
He commended the support he received from the New Nigeria Peoples Party-led Kano State Government during his time of sorrow, describing it as a demonstration of the unity and love that exists among Nigerians.
Shettima emphasized that the country has moved beyond politics and is now in the governance phase, stressing the need for collective efforts to achieve greatness.
He reminded Nigerians that the country’s greatness is a shared responsibility and should not be affected by political affiliations.
The Vice President expressed his appreciation for the condolence visit, describing it as a gesture that has strengthened his resolve to work for the unity and progress of the country.
In his remarks, Gbajabiamila described the death of Shettima’s mother-in-law as a great loss, not only to the family but also to the nation.
He expressed his condolences on behalf of the President, the Federal Government, and the entire nation, praying that God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The delegation included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; the Head of Service, Folasade Yemi-Esan; and other top government officials.
The visit was a demonstration of the Federal Government’s support and solidarity with the Vice President and his family during their time of bereavement.
The gesture also underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in governance, as emphasized by Shettima in his remarks.
