President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed new Director-Generals for the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and the National Population Commission (NPC), as part of his administration’s efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of key government agencies.
The announcements were made in a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President. Dr. Dayo Mobereola has been named the new Director-General of the NDE. Mobereola, known for his extensive experience in transportation management, previously served as the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority and Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State. His appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective and improved strategies for addressing unemployment in Nigeria.
Tanimu Yakubu has been appointed as the new Director-General of the NPC. Yakubu, an economist with a robust background in finance and economic planning, has held notable positions including Chief Economic Adviser to a former President and Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria. His experience is anticipated to enhance the commission’s capabilities in managing population data critical for national planning and development.
The appointments underline President Tinubu’s commitment to bolstering the leadership of crucial agencies to ensure they fulfill their mandates effectively, thereby contributing to Nigeria’s overall development objectives.
