The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has urged the federal government to take action to address the country’s economic hardship, citing the planned nationwide protest.
The party’s national chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, expressed support for the protest and called on security agencies to respond with civility, emphasizing the importance of peaceful expression of grievances.
Gabam declared that Nigerians are suffering and that the federal government must take concrete steps to address their grievances. He highlighted that the struggle for a better Nigeria is a collective responsibility, regardless of political differences and dispositions.
The SDP appeals to every citizen joining the rallies to express their grievances peacefully, as they understand the importance of maintaining peace and unity in the country. They also urge security agencies to treat the protesters as fellow citizens, not enemies of the state.
The party supports the rally’s demands for improved economic policies that benefit all Nigerians, increased investment in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, a comprehensive healthcare plan, and an end to corruption and impunity.
The SDP believes in the welfare and future of the country and emphasizes the shared responsibility of all for a better Nigeria. They reiterated their commitment to calling on the government to stand with the people and fight for a better Nigeria.
Gabam urged the government to listen to the voices of the citizens and take concrete steps to address their grievances, saying “Nigerians are suffering, and it’s time for the government to act.”
