Friends Kill Youth In Zaria, Withdraw N800k From His Account

A gruesome murder has shaken the city of Zaria, Kaduna State, as a young man from Gombe State was found dead with deep cuts near the PZ area in Sabon Gari Local Government Area. The victim, who had traveled to Zaria with his friends in hopes of being recruited into the Nigerian Army, was allegedly killed by his companions, who then withdrew N800,000 from his account.

According to a source who craved anonymity, “The young man was hacked to death by his colleagues, who withdrew about N800,000 from his account.” The source added, “His lifeless body had knife cuts. It was found on Saturday morning around the PZ area in Sabon Gari Local Government Area.”

The friends had access to the deceased’s account information and ATM password, which they used to withdraw the large sum of money. “He had told his friends that his parents sent about N1 million into his account. On Friday, he even gave his ATM card and password to one of the friends to withdraw N10,000 and bought food for them,” the source revealed.

The authorities have taken custody of the corpse and deposited it at a medical facility in Zaria. The Nigerian Army has denied any involvement in the recruitment process, stating that the exercise was halted due to incessant snake bites at the Falgore forest. The Army’s Public Relations Officer said, “Please note that we also heard of the incident where a civilian was robbed and killed around PZ. The Zaria Divisional Police is in charge of this matter.
