Oshiomhole Urges Nigerians to Be Patient With President Tinubu’s Policies

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor and current Senator representing Edo North, has urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Bola Tinubu. Oshiomhole made this statement on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, following the release of inflation figures by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which showed a rate of 34.19% in June 2024.

The high cost of living in Nigeria has been attributed to the floating of the naira and the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration. However, Oshiomhole expressed optimism that President Tinubu’s policies would yield results in due course, calling for patience from Nigerians.

Oshiomhole stated, “You have to agree that some of the policy initiatives will require more than a year to materialise. What would the president gain by resorting to policy choices that are unlikely to deliver comfort in the long run?” He added, “So, I think for me, it is about having faith that in the long run, these things will work out.”

This statement comes amid growing concerns about the economic hardship in Nigeria, with many citizens struggling to make ends meet. The opposition has criticized the government’s policies, citing the high cost of living and inflation as evidence of their failure. However, Oshiomhole’s statement suggests that the government is committed to its economic policies and is urging Nigerians to be patient and wait for the results.
