Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has been eliminated from the Paris Olympics after losing 74-88 to the United States in the quarterfinals. Despite a strong fight in the final quarter, winning 26-12, the team couldn’t overcome the lead established by the USA in the previous quarters.
D’Tigress lost the first three quarters 17-26, 16-26, and 15-24, respectively. However, their participation in the Olympics was historic, as they achieved their first-ever win and became the first African team to reach the quarterfinals of an Olympic basketball competition.
The team’s coach, Rena Wakama, and the players demonstrated remarkable spirit and determination throughout the tournament. Although their Olympic journey has ended, D’Tigress has made Nigeria proud and set a new standard for women’s basketball in the country.
The USA team, on the other hand, has advanced to the semifinals, where they will face another challenger in the quest for Olympic gold.
