The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned five men before the Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti for alleged stealing of construction materials belonging to the state government.

The suspects, Bamidele Solomon, Folorunsho Dada, Sunday Idowu, Olaniyi Opeyemi, and Olaniyi Bamidele, were brought before Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun on three counts of conspiracy to steal granite valued at N472,500, property of the Ekiti State government.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges. The police prosecutor, Mr. Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offenses on August 5, 2024.

The prosecutor asked for a trial date following their not-guilty plea, stating that the alleged offenses violate sections 421, 302 (1) (A), and 343 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The Magistrate granted bail of N200,000 with two sureties each and adjourned the case until September 6 for the commencement of the trial.
