Save Us From This Hell, Zainab Ado Bayero’s Mother Begs Tinubu, Shettima

Ever since Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf reached out to Zainab Jummai Ado Bayero, one of the daughters of the late Emir of Kano, following her public plea for help, things have not been the same for her family.

The issue went viral when Zainab sought financial support to save her family from eviction from a Lagos apartment. She disclosed that her mother, brother, and herself had faced difficulties since her father’s demise, which caught Governor Yusuf’s attention. He offered to settle their accommodation challenges.

However, Zainab’s subsequent plea for more help sparked reactions, with many accusing her of squandering the governor’s assistance.

In response, Zainab issued a statement: “I’m not blackmailing him, but said we need more help to get my brother back to school, to get a home… I’m not greedy. I’m not trying to extort the governor… This journey has been going on for 10 years, ever since my dad died. His family denied us any part of his inheritance.”

Zainab Ado Bayero’s Mother Tells Her Story

Watching her daughter being bullied on social media, Princess Hauwa Momoh decided to share her story.

“My name is Princess Hauwa Momoh, daughter of the late Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Guruza Momoh. I’ve been sad and heartbroken due to social media attacks on my daughter. She’s been harassed, and she never wanted this. Zainab is shy, sensitive, and calm.”

Princess Momoh shared how she met the late Emir Ado Bayero at 18 when she wanted to study journalism at Bayero University in Kano. Her father wrote to Emir Bayero, requesting protection.

“The late Emir made it clear he was in love with me. From the beginning, I was never accepted because I wasn’t from the north. Even after having two kids, my being royal and Muslim didn’t matter. Zainab experienced bullying in school.”

Reasons Zainab Went Public

According to Princess Momoh, Zainab went public because their situation had gone on for too long.

“The Governor reached out, but the situation wasn’t resolved. She wasn’t insulting him or being negative. The attacks began on social media, calling my daughter names, saying she squandered money. We were in shock.”

SOS to Eminent Nigerians

Princess Momoh pleaded:

“I’m asking well-meaning Nigerians, like President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and the Senate President, to help. We’re not beggars but citizens seeking aid. Stop cyberbullying my daughter; it’s dangerous.”

She cited Prince Harry and Meghan, who received help from Tyler Perry after leaving the Royal family.

“I need well-meaning Nigerians to help my daughter and son. I hope the attacks stop. She did this for me, putting her pride aside, and I love her for it.”
