Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors not to interfere in Rivers State’s party affairs.
Wike, a former Rivers State Governor, vowed to resist any attempt to take over the PDP structure in the state.
Speaking at the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike cautioned:
“Let me assure you, not while we live will anybody take away the PDP structure from us… I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states.”
He specifically addressed governors supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara:
“If you’re from Bauchi or anywhere, and you try to interfere in Rivers State, your hand will get burnt, and you’ll never sleep in your state.”
The PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, had backed Fubara’s leadership role in Rivers State.
Wike’s warning follows the ongoing crisis within the Rivers PDP, sparked by his fallout with Fubara.
Present at the congress were serving and past lawmakers, former council chairmen, and party faithful.
Wike’s stance has sparked tensions within the PDP, with potential repercussions for the party’s unity.
