Gunmen abducted three travelers in Emure, Ekiti State, on Saturday, killing Taiwo Oluwole, the husband of one of the captives.
The incident occurred around 5:30 PM near Oyimo River, along Emure-Supare Road in Emure, a spot where kidnappings have happened before, including the abduction of Apostolic Faith Children School pupils in January and Mrs. Atinuke, wife of retiree Albert Adanikin, on July 13.
According to security sources, Oluwole and his wife were returning to Akure after a family event when their Toyota Camry was ambushed. Oluwole was shot and died instantly, while his wife and two others were taken into captivity.
A resident confirmed the incident, stating that the kidnappers had not contacted the family as of the time of filing the report.
Emure Local Government Chairman, Tosin Adedayo, confirmed the incident and stated that a joint security team was pursuing the kidnappers.
The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, did not respond to calls or messages as of the time of filing this report.
