Nigeria’s Oluwafemiayo Breaks Para-Powerlifting Record, Wins Gold Medal

Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemiayo has broken her own world record in the women’s over 86kg Para-Powerlifting, lifting an unprecedented 167kg.

Oluwafemiayo, Team Nigeria’s captain, secured the gold medal, while China’s Deng Xuemei took silver with a 155kg lift, and Egypt’s Nadia Ali earned bronze with a 145kg lift.

This achievement comes on the heels of other Nigerian successes:

– The Super Eagles defeated Benin Republic 3-0 in the AFCON qualifier match.
– The Nigerian team advanced to the Round of 16 in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
– Flora Ugwunwa won silver in the Women’s Javelin F54 category with a 19.26m throw.
– Bose Omolayo secured silver in the Women’s 79kg Para Powerlifting category with a 145kg lift.
– Isau Ogunkunle earned bronze in the Men’s Singles Class 4 Para Table Tennis event.

Senator Enoh, reacting to these achievements, praised the athletes:
