President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has arrived in Maiduguri to condole with the government and people of Borno State over the Alau Dam flood disaster.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Tinubu arrived around 3:15 pm and was received on arrival by Governor Babagana Zulum.
As part of his visit, Tinubu is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kanemi. He will then proceed to one of the camps to address displaced persons.
The flood, which occurred on Monday, submerged almost half of Maiduguri city, resulting in loss of lives and properties. In response, the Borno Government has opened 36 camps to cater for thousands of displaced persons.
Details of the President’s visit will be provided later.
