A tragic incident occurred in the Elemoro area of Lagos on September 15, 2024, when a man identified as Vincent Upkpai allegedly killed his neighbor, Gloria, and her son over a dispute about cleaning duties. The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the killings after receiving an emergency report at 10:50 p.m. from concerned residents.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, Vincent and Gloria got into an argument that escalated into fatal violence, resulting in the deaths of Gloria and her young son. After the assault, Vincent attempted to dispose of Gloria’s body in a large ‘Ghana Must Go’ bag.
Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Elemoro Division swiftly responded, arresting Vincent and recovering the bodies of the victims. The corpses have been deposited at Epe General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
The police have launched a full investigation into the matter, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to establish the circumstances behind the horrific crime. Hundeyin expressed, “We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate event, and we assure the public that thorough investigations are ongoing to bring justice to the victims.”
