Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed that his administration is working on implementing a new minimum wage for civil servants in the state.
Adeleke made this disclosure during the 14th convocation ceremony of Osun State University, held at the institution’s main campus in Osogbo.
The governor stated that the new minimum wage is part of efforts to mitigate the impact of recent economic changes, including the removal of fuel subsidies, on workers.
“We are working on the modalities for the implementation of the newly approved minimum wage. This is part of our commitment to mitigating the impact of recent economic changes on workers in the state,” Adeleke said.
Adeleke also highlighted his administration’s support for Osun State University, including:
1. Completing an office complex at the Isale-Osun campus for health program accreditations.
2. Supporting the construction of an ultra-modern Anatomy Complex.
3. Prioritizing road construction leading to student areas at Sasha Market and other campuses.
4. Paying a year’s arrears to staff members.
5. Providing palliative allowances to all workers.
The governor urged university staff and students to maintain peace and focus on contributing positively to the institution’s development.
Adeleke also advised parents and guardians to continue supporting their children as they transition to new stages in life.
Earlier, Osun State University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, expressed confidence that graduates were well-prepared to contribute to the nation’s public service, economy, and global workforce.
