Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic oil tanker explosion in Majiya, Jigawa State, which claimed the lives of over 105 people and left several others injured.
In a statement released by his media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari described the accident as the deadliest of such tragedies witnessed in the country’s recent history.
“The oil tanker mishap at Majiya, Jigawa State, is utterly painful. My thoughts and prayers are with all those who lost loved ones. I pray that the injured recover quickly,” the former president said.
Buhari also extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the state.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Shiisu Adam, the incident occurred in Majiya town, in Taura Local Government Area of the state. Adam stated that about 55 people sustained various degrees of injuries and were hospitalized at Ringim General Hospital.
“As I am speaking to you now, the casualty figure is about 105, and the number of injured is 55, as opposed to the 50 earlier confirmed,” he said.
