Ogun Begins Recruitment of 1,000 Teachers

The Ogun State Government has commenced the recruitment of 1,000 teachers to fill existing vacancies in public schools across the state. The exercise is being coordinated by the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, in conjunction with the State Teaching Service Commission, the State Universal Basic Education Board, and the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board.

The Ogun State Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel (OgunTEACh) is a special intervention scheme designed to fill existing vacancies in the state’s public primary, secondary, and technical colleges.

According to the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu, “Prospective applicants are expected to hold a minimum of a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a B.A. (Edu)/B.Ed. with a Second Class Lower in relevant subjects/courses.”

Arigbabu added, “Those from other disciplines (different from education) must possess a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from reputable universities,” noting that “applicants to be considered for Technical Colleges will be expected to hold in Technical Education/ in Engineering/B.Eng./HND in Engineering Fields.”

Interested applicants are to apply through the Ogun State Job Portal between Wednesday, October 16, and Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

The successful applicants, known as TEACH Interns, shall be deployed to Local Government Areas in need of their services and will receive a stipend every month for two years, after which they will be assessed on parameters ranging from expertise, commitment to duty, punctuality, respect for constituted authority and willingness to work wherever they are posted.

This recruitment drive is the final batch of 5,000 interns promised by Governor Dapo Abiodun. Some of the initial 4,000 interns have already been offered permanent appointments and are now working as permanent teachers.
