The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Alfa Jubril Dalamun, a 39-year-old cleric residing at No. 8 Imososi Street in Ago Iwoye, for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl.
“The suspect, Alfa Jubril Dalamun, forcefully had carnal knowledge of the victim, a 12-year-old girl, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, around 1:00 p.m.,” said Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the state police command.
Odutola explained that the Divisional Police Officer received a report of the sexual assault at 9:40 a.m. on October 22, 2024. The victim’s mother, a resident of Adekoja Street in Abobi Ago Iwoye, accompanied her daughter to report the incident.
“She reported that the suspect had forcibly assaulted and defiled her daughter. The victim was taken to Love and Care Hospital in Ago Iwoye for medical examination and treatment,” Odutola stated.
The police visited the crime scene, arrested the suspect, and brought him to the police station. Odutola noted that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry and appropriate investigation.
“The police will ensure justice is served in this case. We urge anyone with information to come forward,” Odutola added.
This incident is not isolated, as there have been previous reports of sexual assault in Ogun State. Earlier this month, a 41-year-old father, Aliu Ibrahim, was arrested for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old biological daughter in the Yewa-North local government area.
