The Student Union Government (SUG) of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) has received a major boost, as representatives of Dr. Seun Sokan, through his foundation, Dr. Seun Sokan Foundation (DSS) donated sports equipment worth over one million naira to the union.
Our correspondent reports that the donation took place at the SUG Chambers, amidst an atmosphere of joy and appreciation.
The equipment was officially received by the SUG Sports Director, Comrade Andrew Samuel, alongside the SUG President, Comrade Abidakun Tomide Michael, and other members of the executive council.
While speaking, Comrade Andrew Samuel expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sokan, noting that the sports building had long lacked the necessary facilities for both sporting and relaxation purposes.
“This donation couldn’t have come at a better time,” he said.
“With the university’s annual Olympic Games currently ongoing, these facilities will greatly enhance the event and contribute to its success.”
On his parts, the SUG President, Comrade Michael lauded the gesture, describing it as a milestone achievement for his administration.
He commended Dr. Sokan for his unwavering support and connection to the student community in Ijagun, highlighting that such commitment is truly admirable and worthy of emulation.
He therefore called on other well-meaning individuals and private bodies to follow in Dr. Sokan’s footsteps by investing in student development.
Speaking on behalf of the foundation, the Director of Programmes, Architect Sodeinde Daniel, explained the role of sports in youth development and societal stability.
“One of our core values at DSS Foundation is youth empowerment,” he stated.
“We believe in providing young people with the tools to build meaningful careers through their God-given talents.”
The donation, which included items such as a large plasma television, a power generator, standing fans, a table tennis board, chess sets, PlayStation consoles, and more, was met with excitement and enthusiasm from the entire SUG body.
