The Lagos Police Command has apprehended Jemilu Abdullahi and Samsondeen Isiaku for allegedly vandalising streetlight cables along Ijegun-Jakande Road in the state.
The command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known in a statement made available to our correspondent on Wednesday.
According to him, the suspects were caught in the act on Tuesday, May 6, during a patrol by officers attached to the Isheri Oshun Division.
He further disclosed that the police are currently investigating the matter.
He wrote, “On the 6th of March, patrol officers of Isheri Oshun Division, Lagos, arrested two suspects, Jemilu Abdullahi and Samsondeen Isiaku, while vandalising streetlight cables at Ijegun/Jakande Road.
“The investigation is ongoing. They will be charged to court accordingly,” the police spokesman added.
It was reported that the state command in April arrested two suspects in connection with the vandalism of public infrastructure in the Ile-Zik area of the state.
Acting on credible information from residents, operatives from the Isokoko division apprehended the suspects—Peter James, 26, and Lesipi Adamu, 24—on April 22, 2025, while they were allegedly removing iron rods embedded in roadside concrete barriers.
Tools, including two sledgehammers, two cutting saws, and a pair of scissors, were recovered.
The police then launched a manhunt for several accomplices who escaped arrest.
Those arrested were charged in court on counts of conspiracy, theft, and intentional destruction of public assets.
The recovered items were also documented and presented as part of the court proceedings.
