Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has announced the postponement of the highly anticipated YouTube release of her blockbuster film Omo Ghetto: The Saga due to unforeseen circumstances.
The film, originally set to premiere on May 10, will now be released on a later date yet to be announced.
In a heartfelt message to fans, Akindele clarified that the project is not cancelled and expressed gratitude for their continued patience and support.
“Postponed, not cancelled! We’re rescheduling the #Omoghettothesaga upload due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologise for any inconvenience; we also sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. A new date will be announced soon! Stay tuned and thank you for your continued support,” she wrote.
Omo Ghetto: The Saga, a gangster comedy film, was first released in cinemas on December 25, 2020. It went on to break box office records in Nigeria, grossing over ₦636.1 million.
The film features a star-studded cast including Chioma Akpotha, Eniola Badmus, and Bimbo Thomas. It also inspired a soundtrack titled “Askamaya Anthem” performed by the lead actresses.
