South African music sensation Tyla has emerged as the Favourite Afrobeats Artist at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs), surpassing a lineup of top Nigerian stars including Wizkid, Tems, Rema, and Asake.
The awards ceremony, held at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, celebrated global music excellence across various genres.
American singer Billie Eilish stole the spotlight, winning all seven categories in which she was nominated — including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Hit Me Hard and Soft, and Song of the Year for Birds of a Feather.
Other major highlights of the night included:
Beyoncé, who won Favourite Female Country Artist and Favourite Country Album for her crossover project Cowboy Carter.
Post Malone, awarded Favourite Male Country Artist.
In contrast, superstars Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande were left empty-handed, losing out in all nominated categories.
Tyla’s win marks yet another significant recognition for the fast-rising Afrobeats star, coming off her earlier success at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards.
