From June 3 to June 5, 2025, Nigeria will take centre stage in the African creative industry as it hosts the first-ever Africa Music Business Roundtable, a groundbreaking event aimed at uniting major players in the continent’s music ecosystem.
The roundtable will convene top stakeholders, policymakers, academics, rights managers, investors, and independent creators for three days of deep dialogue and collaboration on the most pressing issues affecting Africa’s booming music sector.
According to co-founder Michael Odiong, the event’s core purpose is to drive sustainable growth across the music value chain by addressing critical themes such as data transparency, intellectual property securitisation, copyright frameworks, and music policy infrastructure.
“This is a pivotal moment for Africa’s music ecosystem,” said Odiong. “By gathering the right minds, we can develop actionable strategies that benefit everyone in the value chain.”
Attendees will include executives from record labels, collecting societies, investment firms, government regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and a vibrant mix of independent music entrepreneurs and innovators.
The program will feature keynote addresses, panel sessions, workshops, and curated networking opportunities focused on building an inclusive and scalable industry.
Co-founder Dr. Chinedu Chukwuji added that the event is more than just another industry gathering—it’s a platform to define the future of African music on African terms.
“This isn’t merely an industry event—it’s a rallying cry,” Chukwuji said. “The Africa Music Business Roundtable serves as a platform for Africa’s music leaders to develop the policies and frameworks that will shape the future of our industry.”
With African music experiencing unprecedented global attention—from Afrobeat’s domination of international charts to major global label investments across the continent—the roundtable aims to harness this momentum to build systems that are transparent, well-regulated, and artist-focused.
