Governor Dapo Abiodun has congratulated the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, and the people of Ijebuland on the occasion of the Ojude Oba Festival in Ogun State.
The annual festival, which means “The King’s Forecourt,” is held in Ijebu-Ode three days after the Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya) celebration. It is known for its colorful pageantry, cultural displays, and celebration of Yoruba heritage and unity.
In a statement, Governor Abiodun described Ojude Oba as one of Nigeria’s most culturally significant festivals. He praised Oba Adetona for his leadership and dedication to the development of Ijebuland.
The governor said the festival is a proud symbol of cultural heritage and unity and saluted the Awujale’s visionary leadership and the spirit of the Ijebu people. He wished that the festival’s grandeur continues for generations to come.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Ogun State, I warmly congratulate His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, and all sons and daughters of Ijebuland on the celebration of this year’s Ojude Oba Festival,” he stated.
Abiodun expressed hope that the festival would continue to promote cultural preservation, peace, and unity among the people.
“May the splendour of Ojude Oba endure through generations. Long live the Awujale! Long live Ijebuland!” the governor concluded.
