The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogun State Chapter, has successfully concluded uts Second Quarter Ogun State Youth Management Meeting.
The meeting was held on Tuesday at the Oladipo Diya Library in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state.
The gathering, was hosted by the local government council Chairman, youth leaders and stakeholders from all 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State, including heads of voluntary youth organisations, for crucial discussions on youth development.
In his welcome address, the youth Chairman of Ogun State, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi, commended the youth stakeholders for their steadfastness.
He revealed the critical agenda items such as the ongoing Ogun Youth Leadership Summit, the call for the establishment of a Ministry of Youth Development, the Ogun Youth Recreational Arena, the Ogun Youth Health Insurance Scheme, and the Ogun State Youth Awards, among others.
Recognizing the unwavering dedication of Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya, Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government and Chief Host of the youth management meeting, Shoremi praised him as a true blessing to Ogun State. He emphasized that Governor Dapo Abiodun’s support for Diya’s chairmanship was among the greatest favors ever bestowed upon the youth constituency.
On his parts, Diya reiterated his administration’s belief that strategic investment in young people is indispensable for societal progress. He emphasized that the future of Ogun State hinges on the capabilities of responsible, educated, and visionary youth leaders. In a significant show of support, the Chairman made a generous financial donation to bolster the Youth Council’s operational capacity. His profound dedication to youth initiatives was further recognized as the State NYCN bestowed upon him the prestigious title of ‘Friend of the Council.’
Another significant moment during the event was the presentation of the ‘2024 Role Model of the Year Award’ by the youth of Odogbolu Local Government to the State Chairman of the Youth Council, Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi. The award, presented by the Local Government Chairman, acknowledged Shoremi’s exceptional leadership and profound dedication to youth development across Ogun State.
In his closing remarks, the LG Chairman lauded the Youth Council leadership at both the state and local levels for their unwavering vision, unity, and dedication to transforming the lives of young people in Ogun State. He urged the current administration of the Youth Council to maintain its focus, unity, and commitment to purposeful leadership, assuring them of Odogbolu Local Government’s unwavering support for all youth growth and development initiatives. As a testament of Diya’s commitment to youth inclusion, the gathering also celebrated the historic appointment of the eighth NYCN State Chairman, Prince Adeleke Adebajo, as the Pioneer General Manager, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for Odogbolu Local Government.
