Nigeria international Calvin Bassey has been named Fulham’s Player of the Season for the 2024–25 campaign, making history as the first Nigerian and African player to receive the club’s top individual accolade.

Bassey played a central role in Fulham’s Premier League campaign under manager Marco Silva, helping the team secure an 11th-place finish. Now in his second season with the London club after joining from Ajax in 2023, the 25-year-old defender was a consistent presence in Fulham’s back line.

He featured in 35 of the club’s 38 league matches, scoring one goal and delivering a series of commanding performances. Statistically, Bassey stood out with five clean sheets, an average of 0.6 interceptions, 1.5 tackles, 4.8 ball recoveries, and 3.2 clearances per game. He made only one error that directly led to a goal throughout the season.

Bassey beat out strong competition for the award, including Raúl Jiménez—Fulham’s top scorer with 12 goals—and fellow Nigerian international Alex Iwobi, who played all 38 league matches and contributed nine goals and six assists across all competitions.
