Contractors handling various road construction projects across Ogun State have pledged to deliver quality work that will stand the test of time, as part of efforts to support the state government’s infrastructure drive.
Acknowledging the significant investment made in critical infrastructure, the contractors affirmed their commitment to partnering with the state government by ensuring high standards in execution.
Ifeanyi Ugorji, site engineer at Still Earth Construction and Realty, which is handling the 12.3-kilometer Ilisan-Akaka-Isara road project, said the work is currently 73 percent completed and progressing on schedule. He highlighted the use of quality materials and advanced equipment to ensure durability.
“We are prioritising the drainage because we need it to protect the embankment and the pavement itself,” Ugorji said. “So as soon as we are done with the drainage, we will start the earthwork, which is actually the most critical part of the project. We have until August to deliver this project.”
On the 0.85-kilometer Tam-Balogun, 1.1-kilometer Osinubi, and 12.5-kilometer Obalende-Abeokuta roads in Ijebu-Ode, Michael Umeh, site engineer at Fort Hermon, said significant milestones had been reached. He noted that site clearing, excavation, stone base laying, and drainage construction were completed and the project was ready for asphalting.
Despite challenges posed by the rainy season, Umeh maintained that his company would forge ahead and uphold its reputation for quality delivery.
At the Akute-Ijoko road site, Michael Akam, site supervisor with Craneburg, reported that 500 meters of the road had already been excavated, and construction of the drainage system would begin shortly.
“We’ve done about 500 meters of the Akute-Ijoko road; it is a normal road with drainage on both sides,” Akam said. “We are known for delivering quality work across the country, and this project will not be an exception.”
Ghassan Moussa, site supervisor at Hi-Tech Construction Company, disclosed that phase two of the Sagamu-Iperu-Ode-Saapade road project is underway.
“We have completed at least 60 percent of the project,” Moussa said. “We are extending both sides of the road, and after that, we will put in the stone base and commence asphalting. I can assure you that we will deliver a quality job.”
The assurances come as residents across Ogun State express optimism about improved connectivity and economic activity once the road projects are completed.
