President Bola Tinubu arrived in Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia, on Saturday, marking the beginning of his two-nation tour of the Caribbean and South America.
The President touched down at Hewanorra International Airport at 5:30 pm local time, where he was welcomed with full military honours. He was received by the Governor-General of Saint Lucia, Mr. Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles, and Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre.
According to a statement issued by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s official engagements in Saint Lucia will begin on Sunday with courtesy visits to both the Governor-General and Prime Minister.
On Monday, President Tinubu is scheduled to address a special joint session of the Senate and House of Assembly of Saint Lucia. The address will take place at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom, Sandals Grande, Gros Islet.
The visit to Saint Lucia is the first stop in President Tinubu’s official trip, which will also see him attend the BRICS Summit in Brazil.
