Ogun Motorcyclists Cautioned On Safety During Rainy Season

Commercial motorcycle riders in Ogun State have been urged to prioritize their safety and avoid operating during heavy rainfall to prevent accidents and safeguard their lives and those of their passengers.

The appeal was made over the weekend by the State Chairman of the Riders and Owners of Motorcycles Organisation (ROMO), Olusola Shotayo.

Shotayo emphasized that while it is important for riders to meet their daily income targets, the value of human life must come first. He noted that the rainy season presents unique hazards such as slippery roads and poor visibility, which increase the risk of accidents.

“We understand the hustle and the need to meet daily targets, but no gain is worth the loss of life,” Shotayo said. “The rainy season brings slippery roads, poor visibility, and increased danger. We advise all riders to suspend operations during heavy rainfall and always use safety gear.”

He also encouraged members of the organization to be law-abiding, safety-conscious, and considerate of other road users during the challenging weather conditions.

Shotayo assured that ROMO leadership will continue to engage relevant authorities to improve working conditions and ensure the safety of its members.
