Chelsea secured a place in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup with a 2–1 victory over Brazilian side Palmeiras in the quarter-final clash.

The Premier League team took the lead in the 16th minute when Cole Palmer scored, finishing off an assist from Trevoh Chalobah. Despite several attacking attempts from both sides, the score remained 1–0 at halftime.

Palmeiras fought back after the break and found the equaliser in the 53rd minute through E. Willian, who was assisted by R. Rios. Both teams continued to push for a winning goal in the high-tempo match.

However, in the 83rd minute, Palmeiras suffered a setback when their goalkeeper Weverton conceded an own goal, giving Chelsea a 2–1 advantage. The Brazilian side could not recover, despite a late push to find another equaliser.

The match saw four yellow cards issued. Malo Gusto was booked in the 41st minute, followed by Liam Delap in first-half stoppage time (45+3′), R. Rios in the 78th minute, and Levi Colwill in the 86th minute.

With the win, Chelsea advanced to the semi-finals of the prestigious tournament.
