Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has responded to her recent invitation by the Nigeria Police Force over alleged cyberbullying related to her comments on the death of late musician Mohbad.
In a detailed Instagram post, Ojo clarified that her remarks were misinterpreted, stating she never directly accused anyone of being responsible for Mohbad’s death. Instead, she emphasized her advocacy for a thorough investigation and justice.
The actress recounted her efforts in pushing for a probe, including writing letters to the Governor, Attorney General, and Commissioner of Police, as well as meeting with officials to discuss the need for a comprehensive inquiry.
Ojo revealed she has faced severe backlash, including death threats and public vilification. She disclosed receiving a threatening letter before her daughter’s wedding, warning her of impending harm, and cited ongoing intimidation she believes stems from her political views during the last elections.
Despite the challenges, Ojo affirmed her commitment to social justice and expressed readiness to cooperate with police investigations. She also thanked supporters who have stood by her.
The actress denied influencing police investigations, stating it was not her place to dictate their procedures. She noted that Mohbad’s wife, brother, and others were also invited by authorities.
Ojo concluded by appealing for understanding as she deals with personal setbacks, including a recent fire at her office, while remaining resolute in her pursuit of justice.
