President Tinubu Departs Brazil, Heads To Abuja After Two-Nation Tour

President Bola Tinubu has departed Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, en route to Abuja, Nigeria, marking the end of his two-nation tour that included visits to Saint Lucia and Brazil.

The San Marino-registered BBJ aircraft (Registration: T7-NAS) conveying the President took off from Galeão International Airport at 12:50 p.m. local time (4:50 p.m. Nigerian time) on Saturday. He is expected to arrive in Abuja by 2:50 a.m. on Sunday.

Tinubu began his tour with a state visit to Saint Lucia from June 29 to July 4, after which he travelled to Brazil to attend the 17th meeting of the Global South and Emerging Economies bloc, which was held from July 5 to July 7.

Since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu has embarked on at least 41 foreign trips, visiting 28 countries across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Asia.

France remains his most frequent destination, with six visits, followed by the United Kingdom (four visits), and the United Arab Emirates (three visits). He has also travelled twice to Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Germany, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Guinea-Bissau, and once to countries such as India, Kenya, Qatar, China, Senegal, the Netherlands, Benin Republic, Chad, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea, Brazil, the United States, and the Vatican.

These international trips have covered ceremonial events, economic summits, diplomatic engagements, and bilateral meetings.
