A community in Ogun State, Orile-Imo in Obafemi Owode local government has disclosed its commencement of the preparation for its maiden coronation ceremony of Oba, Oluwambe Sogaola, the Olu of the community.
Speaking at the press conference held at the NUJ Secretariat, t the Chairman Publicity Committee of the coronation Deji Sowunmi said the coronation will welcome all the sons and daughters of Orile-Imo, includinh well-wiishers, friends, stakeholders across the state.
Sowunmi revealed that the ceremony was designed to reflect the values of the monarch, adding that the week-long programme will commence on Monday July 21, 2025 and will climax on Saturday July 26, 2025, with a thanksgiving service.
According to him, the historic celebration will mark a significant milestone in the life of Oba Sogaolu, whose ascension to the throne has brought peace, development and renewed cultural pride to Orile-Imo’ Sowunmi.
The event also disclosed to recognize and award sons and daughters of the community who have contributed to the development of the community.

“The First Coronation Anniversary Celebration has been carefully designed to reflect the values of our Kabiyesi: service to humanity, promotion of communal harmony, infrastructural and commitment to socio-cultural development which has made Orile-Imo an industrial hub of the Gateway State.”

Sowunmi said the initiative underscore Kabiyesi passion for the well-being of his people. Free medical consultations, treatments, and minor procedures will be conducted for residents of Orile-Imo and its environs, in partnership with reputable medical professionals and health organizations”
Other programme of the event is on Friday, 25th July 2025: Community Programme I & II, dedicated to intellectual and cultural engagements Activities include, quiz Competition among local schools to promote academic excellence, also a Public Lecture oddressing contemporary issues relevant to community development.
Also, Orile-Imo Varieties Day, Recognition and Awards Ceremony to honour distinguished sons, daughters, and friends of Orile-Imo, jummat Service to seek divine blessings for Kabiyesi and the entire community; and Chieftaincy Installations of deserving individuals inte honorary traditional titles.
The Grandfinale scheduled for Saturday, 26th July, featuring the Installation of more Chieftaincy Title Holders, the Inauguration of Legacy Projects facilitated by Kabiyesi visionary leadership, and festivities celebrating the cultural renaissance being witnessed in our land.
