The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged Nigerians seeking elevation and progress to recognise the sovereignty of God as the “King of kings” whose power is beyond human understanding.
This call came alongside the admonition of the National Director of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI), Dr. Obi Onwuakpa, who encouraged Nigerians, especially leaders and professionals, to embrace godly values and integrity in governance and daily life.
Adeboye gave the advice during the church’s monthly thanksgiving service held with the theme “King of kings.” The event, which took place at the RCCG headquarters, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, was attended by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his wife, Ibijoke, and members of his cabinet.
During the service, Adeboye offered prayers for leaders at all levels and expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary. He commended Nigerians for their resilience through difficult times and urged them to honour God as the supreme King who can lead the nation into a brighter dispensation.
He said, “When God elevates a person, no obstacle or opposition can stand in the way of that elevation. If human beings are the ones lifting you up, sooner or later their hands will grow weary, and they will bring you down. But when God is the one promoting you, there is no limit to your promotion because His hands are everlasting.”
Speaking at a breakfast meeting of the FGBMFI VGC Chapter in Lagos, Dr. Onwuakpa urged participants to devote their time, resources, and talents to serving God and humanity. He revealed that he has spent 30 years as a born-again Christian and member of the fellowship.
“Humans were created for the purpose of serving God. Anything that is not useful to the Creator becomes useless and discarded,” he warned, calling on religious leaders to confront bad governance boldly instead of offering mere lip service to political authority.
Onwuakpa likened his message to the biblical example of Prophet Nathan’s rebuke of King David, stressing that leaders should be held accountable while followers must take responsibility for doing the right thing in their personal and professional lives.
He further explained that the FGBMFI serves as a platform for prayer, worship, networking, and empowerment, allowing professionals, entrepreneurs, and workers to share knowledge and testimonies of God’s power at work.
The VGC Chapter President, Mr. Francis Ahaotu, added that the fellowship’s monthly sessions feature guest speakers who address practical life issues, alongside sessions of worship and prayer.
He encouraged the public to embrace the fellowship’s mission, citing Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all other blessings will follow.”
