The Nigeria Football Federation on Thursday inaugurated its Electoral and Appeals Committees to oversee elections into its Executive Committee for the 2026–2030 term.
The inauguration was performed by the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, at the federation’s secretariat in Abuja.
Gusau urged members of the committees to uphold fairness, transparency, and integrity throughout the electoral process, stressing the importance of credibility in strengthening football governance in the country.
“We expect diligence, neutrality and courage,” he said. “This process must inspire confidence locally and internationally as a model of transparent football administration.”
He added that the federation would provide full support to the committees to ensure credible elections acceptable to all stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the committees, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Matthew Burka’a, pledged professionalism and accountability throughout the exercise.
“We will conduct a free, fair and credible election that reflects global best practices and earns the trust of the football community,” Burka’a assured.
He also noted that the exercise would attract attention from global football bodies such as FIFA and Confederation of African Football, promising that the process would set a benchmark for future sporting and governance elections.
According to the federation, elections into the NFF Executive Committee are scheduled to hold on September 26 in Lafia.
Dignitaries present at the inauguration included Philip Shaibu, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Silas Agara, and George Aluo, among other senior officials of the federation.
