As Easter festive season approaches, the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (SO-SAFE CORPS) has called on residents to prioritise safety while travelling and celebrating across the state.
In a statement issued by the State Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, and released to newsmen via the Assistant Commander of Corps,
Adegunwa Adegbuyi,
Director of Information and Public Relations, on Wednesday.
Accordingly to Ganzallo, the Easter season comes with increased movement, social gatherings, and religious activities, while residents are being urged to plan their movements carefully and remain alert at all times.
Meanwhile, during the season, many families will travel to reunite with other during this period, therefore, commuters are advised to use only trusted transport services and avoid boarding unknown or unsafe vehicles, in addition, travellers should share their movement details with trusted contacts before departure.
The So-Safe CORPS also used this medium to encourage motorists to exercise patience on the roads, as traffic volume will likely increase, and drivers must avoid over speeding, dangerous overtaking and all forms of reckless driving.
In addition, while communities celebrations may extend into late hours, however, residents are urged to remain cautious, especially in unfamiliar environments, strongly advise against isolated routes and poorly lite areas at night.
Furthermore, households that will be away should secure their homes properly, residents should also stay connected with neighbours and local security contacts.
Religious centres and event venues will record high attendance. In such settings, we urge the public to stay observant, safeguard personal belongings, and promptly report any unusual behaviour.
To support a peaceful celebration, So-Safe Corps has reinforced patrol operations, expanded surveillance coverage, and deployed officers to strategic locations statewide. We have also strengthened coordination with other security agencies to ensure rapid response where necessary.
Importantly, security remains a shared responsibility. We therefore call on community leaders, youth groups, and residents to support ongoing efforts by providing timely and useful information.
