The confirmation was made by the match agent of the Nigeria Football Federation, Jairo Pachon, who noted that both fixtures fall within the FIFA international window for friendly matches.

The match against Portugal, popularly known as the Seleção das Quinas, will serve as their final preparation game before they travel to North America for the upcoming FIFA World Cup finals, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

In addition to the friendlies, the Super Eagles are also expected to defend their title at the Unity Cup Tournament scheduled to take place in London from May 26 to May 30.
