The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed that the money laundering charges against Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, were dropped due to his confessional statement on naira abuse in court.
Bilikisu Buhari, representative of the EFCC, disclosed this to the House of Representative Committee investigating Bobrisky. She emphasized that the commission has the power to amend charges and that there was no financial inducement involved in the decision.
The Chairman of the Committee, Ginger Onwusibe, requested that the person who recorded the audio evidence against Bobrisky appear before the committee at the next meeting.
Verydarkman Presents Evidence
Verydarkman appeared before the House of Representatives joint Committee, alongside Bobrisky’s lawyer, Averosoghene Omuvwie, EFCC representatives, and suspended officers of the Correctional Services.
Verydarkman claimed to have obtained audio recordings from someone who borrowed ₦4 million from Bobrisky and stated that he had more evidence to present.
Bobrisky’s Absence
Bobrisky’s lawyer, Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie, explained that his client could not attend the probe due to ill health. However, the committee requested evidence from Bobrisky’s doctor, which the lawyer could not provide.
Bobrisky’s Detention
Deputy Controller Michael Beson Anukwa of the Maximum Correctional Center Kirikiri Lagos testified that Bobrisky was detained in the correctional center facility and not elsewhere.
“Bobrisky was admitted on April 13 with a valid warrant and transfer order from the Ikoyi Correctional facility,” Anukwa stated. “He spent 10 days at a medium correctional centre and was moved to maximum because he refused to eat the prison food.”
Bobrisky was placed in a separate cell due to his unique features and had 39 visitors during his stay.
