JCI Rock City Supports Parents With Gifts, After Family’s 8-Year Wait For Baby

The family of Mr. and Mrs. Olude has received a donation of baby gifts and a cash presentation from the Junior Chambers International (JCI), Rockcity, as they welcome the first baby of the year.

The baby girl, weighing 3.5kg, was delivered at exactly 12:07 a.m. at the Oba Ademola II Maternity Hospital in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Our correspondent reports that the family had been waiting 15 years to start a family, with the past eight years being particularly challenging to have a child.

While speaking at the Oba Ademola Hospital today, the newly elected President of JCI Rockcity, JCIN Amb. Seun Adebayo, explained that “The Future Project” is an annual initiative designed by the organization to celebrate the arrival of the first baby of the year.

JCIN Amb. Adebayo revealed that parts of the gifts presented to the Olude family included essential baby items such as diapers, as well as a cash donation of ₦100,000, which includes health insurance for the baby for one year.

According to him “we are here to celebrate the first baby of the year. It is our tradition to visit the facility where the first baby of the year is born to celebrate this significant milestone. For over 12 years, we have maintained this custom, and that is why we are here today.”

“The birth of the first baby holds a special significance in our society, particularly as the first baby born in our environment here in Abeokuta. Over the years, we have supported families of the first baby with gifts, including essential baby items. However, after conducting a survey to assess the sustainability of this approach, we decided to introduce a new dimension this year.”

“This time, we came with some essential gifts like diapers, which are crucial for the baby’s early months. Additionally, we are offering support of ₦100,000 to the family, which includes health insurance for the baby for one year.”

“We strongly believe that health insurance is essential and will go a long way in ensuring the baby’s well-being.”

“As for the family, we believe this is a precious gift from heaven. According to the Director of Services, the baby has been named “a precious gift,” and rightly so. This is particularly heartwarming as the parents have been waiting for this blessing for eight years”.

“Their new year has started with an incredible gift, and we are grateful to be part of their celebration.”

While speaking on some of his agenda for this year as newly president elected, JCIN Amb. Adebayo expressed optimism that his tenure he’s going to be impactful”

His words “Our theme for this year is “Value Plus.” We believe every organization should aim to create impact and add value to society.”

“This initiative today is an example of how we intend to make a difference. Over the next 12 months, members of JCI Rockcity can expect impactful projects, innovative programs, and valuable contributions to society. The year is already planned, and we are focused on delivering value and touching lives.”, JCIN Amb Adebayo concluded.

On his parts, the father of the new born baby, Mr. Olude expressed his gratitude to God Almighty and to the team of JCI Rockcity, saying that it was an unexpected and delightful surprise for his family.

He said his new baby is a precious gift, therefore revealed that him and his wife had been 8-Year long of waiting for child, with 15 years in relationship.

His words “This is an unexpected and delightful surprise for the family, On behalf of our family, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to JCI Rockcity and the Oba Ademola Hospital management for their support.

“You all have made us feel like one big family. They call her (new baby) ‘Precious Baby’—a name she truly lives up to, Once again, thank you so much for this moment.”

“It has been eight long years of waiting, built on 15 years of a strong and loving relationship, and through it all, she has always remained unwavering in her love and commitment.”, Mr Olude appreciated.

The wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun also visited the new baby girl and other families who delivered on the first day of new year with gifts of baby items and cash and the JCI Rockcity was privileged to appreciate her for identifying with their organization since 2020 in terms of support.

In their separate remarks, JCIN Amb. Lydia Oluwaseyi-Abayomi, Vice President, Business & International, and JCIN Amb. Ifeoluwa Adesanya, Vice President, Individual & Community, said the project reflects JCI Rockcity’s commitment to empowering communities, fostering hope, and supporting families in meaningful and impactful ways. They emphasized the importance of collective efforts in achieving the project’s goals and expressed gratitude to all sponsors and team members who contributed to its success.

Among others in attendance included JCI Sen. Henry Adedokun, the immediate Past President of JCI Rockcity who is now the National Vice President, JCIN Amb Hazzan Kafidipe, 2022 President of JCI Rockcity, JCIN Amb. Olalekan Egbetola amongst others.
