For renowned businessman and socialite, Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, his inspiring philosophy is encapsulated in the words of Mother Teresa: “Let no one come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness; kindness in your face, in your eyes, and in your smile.”

The Chairman of IBD Hotels and IBD Impex, popularly known as IBD Dende, stands as a paragon of success and benevolence. He embodies a life philosophy grounded in the principles of giving back to his community. This ethos, deeply rooted in Islamic teachings that emphasise cheerful giving, has shaped his actions and commitment to philanthropy over the years.

In the vibrant social landscape of Ogun State, especially Yewaland where he has earned the esteemed title of Olumo —an honour conferred upon him by the Olu of Ilaro in recognition of his extensive contributions to the local community— IBD Dende’s impact is profoundly felt, as countless individuals who seek his assistance often emerge from their struggles empowered and hopeful, their spirits lifted by his unwavering support.

IBD Dende’s good deed is felt all year round but the annual Eid festival has become a hallmark of his dedication to philanthropy and communal togetherness. This year wasn’t an exception as he threw a two-day event for his friends and his people. It started on Friday June 6 when he warmly opened the doors of his mansion in Yewa to a wave of jubilant festivities that encapsulated the spirit of the holiday. This grand celebration, organised under the auspices of the IBD Foundation, was not merely a religious observance but a heartfelt mission to uplift those around him, particularly the children and families of Ilaro and its surrounding areas.

It was a remarkable experience, filled with a wide array of engaging and entertaining activities capped with generous distributions of gifts. With active support of his devoted wife, Omolara, meticulously coordinating every detail, the celebration was enhanced by an abundance of sumptuous meal food and refreshing drinks.

The festivities continued on Saturday, June 7, when the businessman hosted one of the most significant social gatherings in Ilaro. The event stood out for its opulence, as no expense was spared in ensuring that guests from near and far felt like royalty. Attendees were treated to a lavish selection of high-end drinks, complemented by more than 15 serving stations featuring an enticing variety of exquisite dishes and finger foods designed to impress even the most discerning palates.

Renowned hip-hop artists Qdot and Lyta captivated the audience, delivering their popular hits that had guests dancing and singing along. Adding to the evening’s vibrancy was actor Baba Tee, whose side-splitting comedy kept everyone entertained and in high spirits.
