Veteran actress Sola Sobowale has paid tribute to renowned actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, acknowledging his significant impact on her career.
Speaking at the premiere of Her Excellency, an event held to celebrate Salami’s 60-year milestone in the Nigerian film industry, Sobowale expressed heartfelt appreciation for his mentorship, kindness, and generosity.
“God used him to take me where I am today. I have never done this in my life, but I am going to do it today. Ese Modupe. I am very grateful,” Sobowale said emotionally at the event.
She went on to describe Salami as a “man of action and substance, a giver,” highlighting his influence on many lives, both within and outside the entertainment industry.
“You not only touched me, but you touched a lot of people, both alive and dead, males and females, young or old. You touched everybody, you’re a selfless man,” she added.
Sobowale also acknowledged Salami’s wife, known as “Mama Wale,” for her support over the years. “One thing that I will never forget and have been waiting for the opportunity to say is Mama Wale. You supported him, and that’s why he is standing the way he is today. You will enjoy the fruit of your labour,” she stated.
Sola Sobowale’s acting career has experienced a resurgence in recent years, particularly with her powerful performance as Eniola Salami in King of Boys, a role that earned her widespread acclaim and solidified her status as one of Nollywood’s most formidable talents.
