President Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment To Inclusive, Thriving Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to building an inclusive and prosperous Nigeria, citing ongoing infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as evidence of purposeful governance.

Speaking during the commissioning of the newly completed Collector Road CN8 (Asuquo Okon Way) in the Dakibiyu District of Jabi, Abuja, the President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, described urban development as a core indicator of a serious administration.

“When a city works—when its roads are paved, its lights stay on, and its arteries flow without congestion—it tells the world that its government is not just present but purposeful,” he stated.

The commissioned road links Arterial Roads N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) and N1, connecting key public and private institutions such as the Police Service Commission Headquarters, FCT High Court Jabi, Code of Conduct Tribunal Headquarters, and the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology.

Highlighting the practical benefits of the project, Tinubu said: “Commutes will be shortened. Congestion will ease. Livelihoods will flourish. Shops will open. Markets will thrive. Children will get to school faster. Emergency services will arrive quicker.”

He emphasized that the Renewed Hope agenda is focused on real impact, not just rhetoric. “Not policy for politics’ sake, but policy translated into progress… Renewed Hope poured into concrete and paved across kilometres,” he added.

The President said the roads would revive previously neglected communities and create new growth opportunities. “Our vision for Abuja is not limited to its glittering centre. We are equally committed to its outskirts, to its margins, to its hidden corners where dreams often struggle to breathe,” he stated.

He commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the FCT Administration team for their outstanding work and “sense of urgency” in executing the projects. “This administration remains steadfast in its support for the FCTA. We will continue to provide the resources, policy backing, and institutional cooperation needed to ensure that projects like these are delivered on time and to the highest standards,” Tinubu added.

In his remarks, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike noted that the road commissioning was part of a continuous series of completed projects. “When we wanted to find land for the construction of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, I was told by the director of lands that there was a space in this area. I came to inspect the land, but Your Excellency, you cannot believe that as a city, we could have such a terrible and horrible road,” he said.

Wike explained that the project was awarded in September and flagged off in October 2024, and had now been completed and commissioned. He also expressed gratitude to the President for his support and requested continued cooperation.

Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmud, also expressed appreciation to the President and the Vice President for their support toward inclusive urban growth and thanked all stakeholders involved in the project’s success.

The Police Service Commission (PSC), represented by its Secretary Onyemuche Nnamani, also commended the Tinubu administration for the road projects. He noted that the PSC is a direct beneficiary of the new infrastructure and praised Minister Wike for prioritizing the rehabilitation of roads around the Dakibiyu area.

Nnamani said the improved road network would benefit visitors and businesses and encouraged Nigerians to support the current administration. He added that the PSC would continue to ensure that the Nigeria Police operates within the law and urged officers to remain committed to national service.
