Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced that 1,000 farmers registered under the Ogun State Farmers’ Information Management System will benefit from Agric-Connect, a digital agriculture platform aimed at empowering farmers with mobile-enabled agricultural intelligence.

The governor made this known on Wednesday during the launch of the Agric-Connect programme held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta. The initiative is a collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, the Ogun State Government, MTN Foundation, and Huawei Nigeria Limited.

Governor Abiodun said the platform is designed to drive the growth of agriculture by creating a robust system that connects farmers with virtual resources, modern technologies, and accessible markets.

He explained that the Agric-Connect initiative goes beyond improving productivity, describing it as the creation of a technology-driven ecosystem that equips farmers with relevant information such as crop recommendations and rainfall patterns.

The governor further disclosed that his administration has supported 12,466 cassava farmers and provided mechanisation for over 4,000 hectares of farmland across the state.

He added that over 196,000 bundles of cassava stems were distributed to farmers, along with nearly 7,000 bags of fertiliser and more than 60,000 litres of agrochemicals.
