Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has helped Galatasaray clinch a historic double after netting in a 3-0 win over Kayserispor, securing the 2024/25 Turkish Super Lig title with two games to spare.
Fresh off scoring a decisive brace that handed Galatasaray their first Turkish Cup in five years, Osimhen continued his stellar form, leading the club to a league triumph — their 25th in history. Galatasaray now sit 11 points clear of closest rivals Fenerbahce, making the title mathematically theirs.
On loan from Napoli, Osimhen has been a key figure throughout the season, registering 25 goals in 29 league appearances, and 35 goals in all competitions, including the UEFA Europa League and Turkish Cup. His prolific season has seen him surpass Mario Jardel’s record from 2000 to become the highest-scoring foreign player in Turkish football history.
Fans are already lobbying for the Nigerian forward to stay permanently, given his impact and popularity.
Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has recommended Osimhen to his former club, urging them to sign the striker in the upcoming transfer window.
“I would sign Victor Osimhen as the No. 9. I think he is a good striker and would possibly be available this summer,” Rooney said in an interview with Amazon Prime.
Rooney also called for the return of ex-United goalkeeper David de Gea and the acquisition of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
As Galatasaray celebrates their double, the future of Victor Osimhen remains a major talking point ahead of the summer transfer window.
